Farm experience

A farm built around spending time with the animals

Outback Alpacas sits on rural land in Genesee County, a short drive from I-75. The farm keeps more than 15 alpacas along with other animals and has developed its visitor program around close-up, scheduled experiences rather than regular walk-in hours.

For families looking through Michigan alpaca farm experiences, Outback offers several ways to visit depending on how much time and interaction they want, from a short self-guided stop to a fuller educational tour.

Private & group visits

More than a standard farm tour

Outback also invites visitors to contact the farm about private tours and parties, along with homeschool groups, Scout or troop visits, and school classes. That flexibility makes the farm useful for both casual family outings and organized educational groups.

The farm's own education section covers subjects such as alpaca history, colors, terminology, and the differences between alpacas and llamas. Visitors who want more background before going can also explore how alpacas live, behave, and produce fiber across the educational sections of this site.

Beyond the tour

Shearing days, shopping, and special farm moments

Outback's public side extends beyond scheduled tours. The farm posts news about annual shearing, welcomes volunteers and spectators for some farm activities, and maintains an alpaca shop with fiber products, clothing, gifts, yarn, raw fleece, and other items.

The farm also maintains a mailing list for classes, special events, sales, and new arrivals, which is useful for people who want to return when something different is happening.
