About the farm

A backyard farm built around connection

Melissa and Cameron Hill started Remedy Farm after alpacas became part of their lives in 2016. The animals moved to the farm in 2020, and the family developed the property as a place where visitors can slow down, meet the herd, and spend time outside.

The farm’s mission is closely tied to emotional support and community service. In partnership with Hands Across the Bay, Remedy Farm hosts no-cost visits for trauma survivors. Regular visitors see that same emphasis in the farm’s small-group tours, relaxed pace, and hands-on animal encounters.

Ways to visit

Private tours, community days, and celebrations

Remedy Farm is not a drop-in attraction. Private visits require an appointment, while public farm days are announced separately by the farm.

Private tours

Meet and feed the herd

Private tours run about 75–90 minutes and include feed bags, close alpaca interaction, questions with the farm, and time for photographs.

Open Farm Days

Free seasonal events

Several times a year, the farm opens to the community with animals, local vendors, food, and children’s activities. These days are generally held in fall, winter, and spring.

Private events

Parties and gatherings

The farm hosts birthdays and customized gatherings. Traveling alpaca appearances may also be possible depending on distance, weather, and the event setting.

The animals

Seven alpacas and a wider farm family

The all-male alpaca herd includes Trigger, Gauge, Echo, Handsome Devil, Valor, Buckshot, and Chico. Their temperaments range from outgoing and treat-motivated to shy animals that prefer a little space, giving a guided visit more personality than a simple walk past the pasture.

Alpacas are only part of the farm. Chickens, rabbits, kune kune pigs, and the family dog also live on the property. Birthday visits may include time to meet some of these animals during the alpacas’ break.

Florida weather

Plan around the summer closure

Remedy Farm closes its visitor program during the summer months to limit added stress on the alpacas in Florida heat. Weekends are usually the easiest time for private appointments because visits must fit around the owners’ regular work schedules.

For a cooler-season visit, ask about the current tour calendar, group size, payment, footwear, and weather policy before traveling. Public Open Farm Days use a separate schedule, so a past event announcement should not be treated as regular operating hours.

Farm goods

Yarn, eggs, and garden compost

The farm sells alpaca yarn made from its own animals directly rather than through an active online catalog. Fresh eggs and alpaca compost may also be available. Contact the farm before visiting if purchasing a particular item is important to the trip.

Find the right Florida farm visit

Remedy Farm suits visitors who want a scheduled, personal encounter rather than an unrestricted walk-in attraction. To compare it with other operations around the state, return to the directory of alpaca farms in Florida.

If this will be your family’s first alpaca visit, the broader guide to alpacas, their behavior, fiber, and daily care provides useful context for what you may see and hear at the farm.
