About the ranch
A large working herd on 150 grazing acres
Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch is owned by Brenda and Frank Crum and is home to more than 180 alpacas. The Odessa property combines visitor tours with breeding, boarding, fiber production, sales, mentorship, and public education.
The herd ranges from young crias to mature breeding animals. Golden Spirit says every alpaca in its program is DNA tested and registered with the Alpaca Owners Association, while its breeding work emphasizes conformation, fleece density, fineness, uniformity, and genetics.
Ranch tours
Education, feeding, and plenty of alpacas
Regular ranch tours require advance booking and tickets. Current dates and prices are provided through the booking link on Golden Spirit’s official website.
Care, feed, fleece, and breeding
Ranch staff explain alpaca behavior and the work involved in managing a large herd, including daily care, nutrition, fiber, and breeding.
Feed alpacas and take photos
Visitors have opportunities to feed the animals and photograph their individual expressions and behavior. Follow staff instructions and use only ranch-provided or approved feed.
Plan ahead for special visits
Gift certificates are available through the farm’s booking system. Larger groups should arrange their visit directly rather than using a standard individual booking.
Working ranch
More than a visitor attraction
Golden Spirit is an active breeding and ownership-support operation. It offers production females and non-breeding alpacas for purchase, boarding options, and mentoring for people considering their first herd as well as established owners.
That working-ranch role gives the public tour more context. Visitors are seeing an operation that manages animals across ages, purposes, and stages of care rather than a small display herd assembled primarily for guest encounters.
Fiber and shopping
EveryWear Alpaca boutique
The ranch boutique displays hundreds of items made with alpaca fiber. A stop there connects the fleece visitors see on the animals with finished clothing, accessories, gifts, and other products.
Seasonal walkabout events may also include boutique access and grain available for feeding. Event formats can differ from the standard ranch tour, so guests should read the current listing before purchasing tickets.
Support an animal
Adopt without taking an alpaca home
Golden Spirit’s symbolic adoption program lets supporters select an alpaca and help with its care. Packages currently begin at $65 per year, with benefits and gifts depending on the level chosen. It can work as a personal connection to the ranch or as an alpaca-themed gift.

Before meeting the herd, families can also read the broader guide to alpacas, their behavior, fiber, and daily care. It provides background for the subjects covered during the ranch tour.
