Farm profile
Serenity Alpacas is a visitor-focused farm in Stony Point, within reach of Statesville, Hickory, Mooresville, Charlotte, and the Lake Norman area. Instead of offering one standard visit, the farm separates its activities by purpose. Guests can choose an educational tour, a shorter hands-on encounter, photography access, or a longer guided walk in which alpacas become companions on a nature trail.
That range makes it important to reserve the correct activity rather than treating every booking as interchangeable. A family with young children may prefer close feeding and petting during an Alpaca Hugs visit. Someone who wants to learn about care and behavior may get more from the educational tour. The trail walk is longer and more physical, while the photography pass is structured for people bringing their own photographer and needing time in the farm’s scenic areas.
Farm experiences
Serenity’s educational tour concentrates on alpaca care, behavior, and daily life. Visitors can feed and interact with the herd while asking questions in a guided setting. The Alpaca Hugs option emphasizes close contact through petting and feeding and is promoted as a shorter experience for visitors of different ages. Photography reservations provide access to alpacas and selected farm settings, but guests supply their own photographer.
School tours, birthday parties, private events, and annual passes extend the farm beyond one-time family visits. The on-site store sells alpaca clothing, gifts, and plush items, while picnic areas and covered pavilions let guests stay for a meal. Because availability, pricing, and scheduled days can change independently for each activity, the booking description for the chosen experience should be treated as the current source.

Learn to halter an alpaca, lead it on the farm trail, and spend time near Camp Squirrel.
Alpaca trail walk
The trail walk is Serenity’s most involved public activity. The full experience takes about 1.5 hours and begins with information about alpaca fleece, feeding, and a condensed close encounter. Guests learn how to halter and lead an alpaca before setting out on a half-mile route through wooded and open terrain. The path includes both flat and hilly sections, so it requires more mobility than remaining near the barn or pasture.
Camp Squirrel provides a destination along the route. This picnic area sits by a spring-fed creek and includes places to rest after the walk. Guests may bring lunch and use the farm’s picnic spaces, but outside alcohol is not permitted. Serenity sells selected beverages under its farm license. Children younger than 12 may join the walk but must share an alpaca with an adult who controls the lead; guests must be at least 12 to walk their own alpaca. The farm requires at least two alpacas for a trail walk because alpacas are social herd animals.
Review trail-walk requirementsPlanning the day
Comfortable outdoor clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended for general visits and required for the alpaca trail walk. Tours normally continue in rain, with barns and covered spaces available for some activities, although hazardous weather may lead the farm to reschedule. Pets and outside alpaca treats are not allowed because livestock guardian dogs protect the herd and alpacas can have sensitive digestive systems. Visitors needing mobility accommodations should contact the farm before booking so the most suitable experience can be discussed.

Serenity Alpacas adds a trail-centered option to the collection of alpaca farms in North Carolina. The choice between a close encounter, an educational tour, and a longer walk lets families select an activity that matches their available time, interest in farm education, and comfort on uneven outdoor ground.
Walking with an alpaca requires a calmer pace than leading many familiar domestic animals. Reading about alpaca behavior and communication can help visitors understand why spacing and patient handling matter. The broader alpaca farm section also explains how visitor experiences fit alongside animal care, fleece production, breeding, and everyday farm work.
