A farm-stay destination

Lodging is the main way visitors experience the ranch

Capaldi Ranch sits in the hills outside Paso Robles, surrounded by more than 500 almond trees. Alpacas share the property with goats, chickens, turkeys, dogs, cats, and other animals, but this is not presented primarily as an alpaca breeding or fiber operation. Its active public focus is staying overnight on a working ranch.

That makes Capaldi a different kind of entry among California alpaca farms. Guests encounter alpacas as part of a broader farm setting, with accommodations serving couples, families, and larger groups. The ranch's own website is the starting point for current choices and booking links.

Three ways to stay

Choose space for a couple, a family, or a group

01

Hilltop Retreat

A larger three-bedroom ranch house intended for families and groups, with views across the surrounding property and room to gather indoors and outside.

02

The Grove

A separate multi-bedroom ranch house set among the farm landscape, giving families another full-home format near the animals and daily ranch activity.

03

Rustic Cabin

A smaller cabin for two, suited to a quieter ranch getaway. Its availability is seasonal and depends on weather, so dates need to be checked before planning.

Before booking

This is an active family ranch, not a staged resort

A stay includes the normal sights and sounds of the property. Farm animals move through designated areas, equipment and maintenance may be active, family members may use dirt bikes or utility vehicles, and livestock guardian dogs may bark while working at night.

Paths and outdoor surfaces can be uneven or gravel-covered. Guests should follow gates, signs, and host instructions, keep animals outside the accommodations, and avoid entering enclosed animal areas without permission.

Meeting the ranch animals

Alpacas are part of a mixed-animal experience

Capaldi's guided animal visits introduce guests to alpacas alongside goats, chickens, and other residents of the ranch. The farm describes a guided format rather than unrestricted entry into pens or working areas, allowing visitors to learn about the animals while following the property's safety boundaries.

Tour access should be confirmed directly. The ranch's current homepage emphasizes experiences for overnight guests, while its animal page also describes reserved weekend tours. Availability, eligibility, length, and cost may change independently of lodging reservations.

Confirm before arrival

A lodging reservation, animal tour, and casual view of animals from guest areas are not necessarily the same type of access. Ask which experience applies to your dates.
