Cape May, New Jersey · Appointment-only visits
Small private alpaca encounters, an established resident herd, and in-person and online shopping near Cape May.
The farm
Jersey Shore Alpacas is owned and operated by Jim and Tish Carpinelli in the Green Creek area of Cape May County. They purchased their first alpacas in August 2005, completed the initial barn and paddocks, and brought the first members of the herd home in February 2006.
The farm once raised alpacas as both a personal interest and a breeding business, but that part of the operation has changed. Jersey Shore Alpacas now reports a resident herd of 13 aging animals and says it is no longer breeding. Its current focus is agritourism: introducing small private groups to individual herd members and sharing information about alpaca behavior, care, and fleece.
A sizable alpaca-goods selection complements the tours. Visitors can browse the farm shop after a scheduled experience, arrange a separate shopping appointment, or order selected products through the farm's web store.
Tour openings are released through the farm's online reservation system. Check current availability, party limits, prices, and policies before traveling.
Choose your interest
The farm handles tour reservations and shopping-only appointments differently.
Reserved for your party
Jersey Shore Alpacas offers private experiences for small groups rather than combining unrelated visitors into one tour. The farm's tour description includes entering pens with selected alpacas, feeding farm-provided carrots, and learning about both alpacas generally and the personalities of individual herd members. A visit may conclude with time in the farm shop.

The farm store carries alpaca capes, shawls, sweaters, scarves, hats, headbands, socks, gloves, toys, yarn, blankets, and gift items. It does not maintain regular walk-in hours, but visitors can arrange a shopping-only appointment without booking alpaca time. A selection of popular products is also available through the farm's web store.

Planning around Cape May
Jersey Shore Alpacas is set up for small, prebooked encounters rather than daily public admission, large field trips, or unannounced visits. Travelers who cannot find an opening within the two-month calendar—or whose group exceeds the farm's current limit—can compare other alpaca farms in New Jersey with different hours, reservation systems, and group policies.
The farm's present focus is meeting its resident herd and shopping for alpaca goods; it no longer operates as an active breeding program. People researching livestock sales, breeding services, workshops, or a different style of farm experience can use the nationwide alpaca farm directory to find farms with those specifically advertised offerings.
