Hidden Brook Ranch Alpaca

Small-group alpaca and llama encounters, guided walks, low-stimulus visits, private celebrations, and farm shopping near Jenny Jump State Park.

The ranch

A small herd with animal-led visitor experiences

Gary and Christine started Hidden Brook Ranch with four alpacas and a llama named Stella in 2019. The family-owned ranch later expanded its herd and began welcoming visitors to learn about alpacas, llamas, fiber, health, and daily camelid care.

The ranch emphasizes interaction on the animals’ terms rather than requiring them to approach every visitor. Its herd has included animals needing individualized medical care, and the farm entered the alpaca show ring in 2025. Alpacas Phantasmagorical Willam and Andean Magic both earned ribbons during that first show season.

Alpacas and llamas are the principal farm animals featured in the bookable experiences. The ranch also mentions domestic pets, although they are not advertised as part of the visitor program.

Experience schedules, admission prices, event availability, and store inventory can change. Review the live booking page or contact Hidden Brook Ranch before traveling.

Three ways to spend time with the herd

Standard encounters, quieter sessions, and private celebrations follow different schedules and booking requirements.

Guided alpaca and llama encounter

Feed, learn, and take a walk with the herd.

The guided experience introduces visitors to the daily work of an alpaca caregiver. Guests may feed the animals, occasionally pat them, participate in halter training, and join a guided walk with the small alpaca-and-llama herd. The farm also shares information about camelid behavior, care, and fiber.

Silent Connections

Choose a quieter, guest-led way to meet the animals.

Silent Connections is a mostly silent, low-stimulus alpaca and llama session designed for guests with autism, auditory sensitivities, or a preference for minimal verbal communication. Staff use visual cues, soft gestures, and slow movements. Feeding, touching the fleece, and taking a slow walk are optional.

Farm-specific answers

Questions about Hidden Brook Ranch

Can I visit without making an appointment?

No regular drop-in access is advertised. The ranch says visits are available year-round by appointment only and asks guests to book online or call ahead. Advance contact is also requested before visiting the farm store.

What is the difference between the meet-and-greet and the guided walk?

The meet-and-greet is a shorter, 30-minute introduction with feeding, fleece interaction, and camelid information. The guided experience lasts about an hour and adds halter work and a walk with members of the alpaca-and-llama herd.

Does the ranch provide a sensory-friendly visit?

Yes. Silent Connections is a one-hour, mostly silent session with limited participation, visual schedules, communication cards, optional interaction, flexible pacing, and quiet break areas. One caregiver or support person is included without an additional charge.

Will every alpaca or llama allow visitors to touch it?

Not necessarily. Hidden Brook Ranch says it allows the animals to engage on their own terms instead of forcing contact. Depending on the visit and the animals’ behavior, guests may feed them, feel their fleece, occasionally pat them, or walk with them.

Can the ranch host a birthday or another private celebration?

Yes. A seasonal Saturday party package is advertised from mid-April through the last Saturday in September. It includes animal activities and a reserved outdoor party space. The farm also invites inquiries about showers, engagements, family gatherings, and other celebrations.

Compare your options

Choose the access and interaction that fit your group

Hidden Brook Ranch centers its public access on reserved alpaca-and-llama encounters rather than open daily admission. Its guided walk, 30-minute meet-and-greet, low-stimulus session, and seasonal party package are designed for different visit lengths and group needs. Travelers who prefer drop-in hours, a different tour format, or another location can compare other New Jersey alpaca farms.

The combination of animal-led interaction and a dedicated low-stimulus experience is a distinctive part of this ranch’s visitor program. People comparing that approach with fiber-focused farms, larger public events, breeding operations, or other types of alpaca visits can use the nationwide alpaca farm directory to look beyond New Jersey.
