Arizona · The fall outing edition
Pumpkin patches.
A whole day of fall.
Take the long way through the corn. Climb aboard the wagon. Leave with a pumpkin—and a few more reasons to come back next year.
More than a pumpkin stop
Pick.
Play.
Stay awhile.
Six farms and festivals with something else to explore, from mazes and hayrides to animal visits and outdoor play.
Some farms grow pumpkins in the field; others pair a pumpkin display with a full fall festival. The listings explain the difference, along with which activities cost extra or run only on certain days.

Mesa Vertuccio Farms Fall Festival
The corn maze and play areas make this an active East Valley fall outing. Pumpkins are sold in a separate barn, so the experience combines a farm festival with choosing a pumpkin from a display.
- The pumpkin stop
- Pumpkins are priced by size in the Pumpkin Barn. Shopping for pumpkins does not require festival admission; this is not presented as cutting pumpkins from vines.
- More to do
- Corn maze, barrel train, petting zoo, jump pad, giant slide, ropes course, mini golf, and playground.
- Location
- 4011 S. Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85212.
- Season & schedule
- The 2026 festival is advertised for October 2–31. Weekly closures and hours apply; check the calendar, especially for the final week.
- Tickets & extras
- Published festival admission is $17, with ages two and younger free. Pumpkins are separate. The maze is unlit after dark; the farm recommends a flashlight.
Gilbert Mother Nature’s Farm
A farm playground and pumpkin outing with plenty for younger visitors to explore. The straw-bale maze offers a different experience from the tall corn mazes at several other farms in this guide.
- The pumpkin stop
- Paid fall-festival admission includes a pumpkin to take home. Confirm the included pumpkin selection when you arrive.
- More to do
- Hayride, straw-bale maze, farm animals, pedal carts, corn pit, playhouses, tube slide, and outdoor games. The farm does not have a corn maze.
- Location

Dewey
Toward the high country
Dewey / Prescott area Mortimer Farms Pumpkin Fest & Corn Maze
A working-farm outing where pumpkin picking and the corn maze sit alongside farm play and animal encounters. The difference between a weekday visit and a weekend festival day matters here.
- The pumpkin stop
- Pick pumpkins in the fields. Produce taken home is charged by weight in addition to admission.
- More to do
- Corn maze, farm-inspired games and rides, and animal encounters. The published festival program adds hayrides, Grain Train rides, shows, and vendors on Friday–Sunday.
- Location
- 12907 E. State Route 169, Dewey, AZ 86327.
- Season & schedule
- The festival page checked still shows 2025 dates. Confirm the 2026 calendar and activity schedule before booking; do not use the older dates to plan this year’s visit.
- Tickets & extras
- Admission is required and prices vary by date. The published weekday program excludes hayrides, train rides, outside vendors, and shows. Confirm current inclusions.

Before the wagon ride
Plan around the activities you want.
Match the day to the ride
A farm can be open while its hayrides or shows are closed. Check the activity schedule as carefully as the opening hours, especially for weekday visits.
Count the pumpkin separately
Admission does not always include a pumpkin. Look for weight-based pricing, size-based pricing, or a stated take-home pumpkin allowance.
Leave space for little legs
A corn maze can become the biggest walk of the day. Ask about shorter routes and stroller surfaces, and leave time for a snack or seated break.
Think beyond sweater weather
Plan for sun and warm afternoons, then check the forecast for your destination. A late visit in Dewey or Willcox can feel different from one in the Phoenix area.
After the pumpkins come home
Keep a little farm time on the calendar.
A fall festival might begin with choosing a pumpkin and end with everyone talking about the animals. If that sounds familiar, learn more about alpacas and turn that curiosity into another outing when the festival season winds down.
There are plenty of ways to build a family tradition around a day at the farm, whether you have a whole afternoon or just room for a small detour. For travels farther from home, explore farm visits across the states and find something to look forward to along the way.
